Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of AI Data Maturity (the "Service"), operated by Unboxed Labs LLC ("Unboxed Labs," "we," "us," or "our"). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. What the Service Does

AI Data Maturity provides an automated, AI-assisted assessment of uploaded data files or connected databases, producing a directional score and narrative feedback intended to help you understand potential data quality, governance, and AI-readiness characteristics of your data.

The Service is a practical assessment guide, not a formal statistical audit, not a compliance certification, and not professional, legal, or financial advice of any kind.

Your use of the Service constitutes consent to the use of artificial intelligence to process and analyze data you upload or connect, as described in these Terms and our Privacy Policy.

2. Eligibility and Accounts

  • You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of legal majority in your jurisdiction, to use the Service.
  • Certain features (Pro tier, credits, saved dashboard history) require creating an account. Account registration requires only a valid email address, verified via a one-time magic link — we do not require a password or collect other personal information to create an account.
  • You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of access to your account and for all activity that occurs under it.
  • You agree to provide accurate information and not to impersonate any person or entity.

3. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use the Service to:

  • Upload or connect data you do not have the legal right to access, use, or analyze, including data belonging to third parties without appropriate authorization;
  • Upload data in violation of any applicable law, including data protection, privacy, or healthcare regulations (e.g. HIPAA) governing that data;
  • Attempt to circumvent usage limits, credit requirements, or the demo/sample-database run caps;
  • Reverse engineer, scrape, or attempt to extract the Service's underlying models, prompts, or scoring methodology;
  • Use the Service to build a directly competing product;
  • Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Service, including introducing malware or attempting unauthorized access to our systems or infrastructure.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access for any account found in violation of these terms.

4. Your Data

You retain all ownership rights to any data you upload or connect to the Service ("Your Data"). We do not claim ownership over Your Data.

Before analysis, we apply automated masking (regex-based and Google Cloud Sensitive Data Protection) to detected personally identifiable information within Your Data, consistent with our Privacy Policy. Files are not permanently stored as part of the core assessment flow; certain metadata and assessment outputs (including Data Dictionary and Dataset Briefing text, where generated) may be retained to provide dashboard history for registered accounts.

You are solely responsible for ensuring you have the right to upload and analyze Your Data, and for complying with any legal obligations (e.g. data protection laws, contractual confidentiality obligations) that apply to it.

5. Fees, Credits, and Payment

  • The Free tier is available without an account or payment, subject to file-size limits (currently up to 1,000 rows / 20 columns) described on our Pricing page.
  • The Service has no subscriptions and no recurring fees. Pro tier features require an account and the use of prepaid, one-time usage credit packs purchased via Stripe. Credits are purchased once and used against future assessments; they do not renew or charge automatically.
  • Database connections always consume one credit per connection, regardless of the size of the connected data.
  • All payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store your payment card details.
  • Refunds are considered on a case-by-case basis and granted solely at the discretion of Unboxed Labs LLC. To request a refund, contact us via our Contact page.
  • We reserve the right to change pricing prospectively; changes will not retroactively affect credits already purchased.

6. No Warranty; Assessment Accuracy

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT.

Assessment results, scores, flagged columns, recommended actions, and any AI-generated narrative content (including the Dataset Briefing) are generated using automated, probabilistic AI models. They are intended as directional guidance only. We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of any assessment output, and we recommend manual review of flagged columns for any dataset where precision matters.

You are solely responsible for any decisions made in reliance on output from the Service.

7. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, UNBOXED LABS LLC AND ITS OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, OR BUSINESS OPPORTUNITY, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING FROM THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, OR (B) FIFTY DOLLARS ($50 USD).

8. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Unboxed Labs LLC from any claims, damages, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from: (a) Your Data or your right to use it, (b) your violation of these Terms, or (c) your violation of any law or third-party right.

9. Intellectual Property

The Service, including its software, scoring methodology, design, and branding, is the property of Unboxed Labs LLC and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws. Except for the limited right to use the Service as intended, no rights are granted to you in our intellectual property.

10. Third-Party Services

The Service relies on third-party infrastructure and processors, including but not limited to Google Cloud Platform, Supabase, OpenAI, Stripe, and Resend. Your use of the Service is also subject to the extent applicable to their respective terms and policies for data they process on our behalf.

11. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without notice, for conduct that violates these Terms or is otherwise harmful to other users, us, or third parties. You may stop using the Service or request account deletion at any time by contacting us.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
